Lutron Sivoia Tensioned Roller Shades
Lutron Sivoia tensioned roller shades are designed for skylights, angled windows, bottom-up shades, and other applications where a standard gravity-operated roller shade cannot function correctly. Pricing is custom-quoted based on the opening size, angle, fabric, mounting method, framing, power, controls, and installation requirements.
A specialized tensioning system keeps the fabric panel controlled as it moves. This allows the shade to operate horizontally, vertically, or on an angle.
At ynVISION, we work with homeowners, architects, builders, and electricians to coordinate the framing, recessed pockets, low-voltage wiring, mounting details, and control system required for each tensioned-shade installation.
Key Features of Sivoia Tensioned Shades
Motorized Shading for Difficult Windows
A conventional roller shade relies on gravity to keep the fabric hanging downward. That design cannot properly cover a flat skylight, a severely angled window, or many bottom-up applications.
Sivoia uses an engineered frame and tensioning system to control the fabric as it travels across the opening. The fabric remains taut with minimal sag and does not require the visible cable guides used by some other skylight-shade systems.
The system can operate at installation angles between approximately negative 135 degrees and positive 135 degrees, allowing it to address a broad range of architectural conditions.

Designed Around the Exact Window Opening

Standard Sivoia tensioned shades accommodate openings from approximately 24 to 96 inches wide and 24 to 144 inches long.
A meet-in-the-middle configuration uses two shades that travel toward each other and can extend the total length to approximately 288 inches.
Available mounting and movement options include:
-
Surface mounting
-
Inside mounting
-
Recessed mounting
-
Top-to-bottom movement
-
Bottom-to-top movement
-
Meet-in-the-middle movement
A curated selection of sheer, privacy, and blackout fabrics is available. Final fabric compatibility depends on the opening dimensions, installation angle, and engineering requirements.

Intelligent Control for Skylights and Angled Glass
Tensioned shades can be controlled as part of a compatible Lutron lighting and shading system.
Automatic Skylight Control - Program overhead shades to close during periods of strong direct sunlight and reopen when less solar protection is required.
Bottom-Up Privacy - Raise a bottom-up shade to block views at eye level while leaving the upper portion of the window open for natural light.
App, Keypad and Scene Control - Operate one or several tensioned shades from Lutron keypads, remotes, compatible apps, schedules, and personalized scenes.

Quiet, Precisely Controlled Fabric Movement

Sivoia tensioned shades are engineered for demanding architectural applications.
-
Quiet Operation - The system operates at less than approximately 38 dBA when measured three feet away.
-
Intelligent Hembar Alignment - Multiple tensioned shades can maintain bottom-bar alignment within approximately one-eighth of an inch.
-
Integrated Side Channels - The frame incorporates side channels designed to control the fabric edges and help reduce light around the sides of the shade.
-
Concealed Mechanical Components - The operating components are concealed inside the tensioned-shade frame for a cleaner finished appearance.
Control Sunlight in Places Ordinary Shades Cannot Reach
Tensioned shades provide automated light control for windows that would otherwise be difficult to cover.
-
Skylight Glare and Solar Control - Close the shade over an overhead skylight to reduce direct sunlight and glare.
-
Angled-Window Coverage - Maintain controlled fabric movement across sloped or unusual architectural glass.
-
Bottom-Up Privacy - Cover the lower portion of a window while preserving daylight and a view through the upper glass.
-
Connect with Lutron Controls - System compatibility depends on the communication configuration selected for the shade. RadioRA 3 and Caséta PRO installations use an appropriate QS wireless configuration, while HomeWorks can support the appropriate QS wired or QS wireless configuration. ynVISION specifies the correct power and communication components for each project.
Tensioned shades require dedicated 35-volt low-voltage power and detailed structural planning. The product should be selected before framing, drywall, trim, and electrical work are completed.
