Lutron Maestro RF Dimmers for RadioRA 3

Lutron Maestro RF dimmers provide familiar tap-button operation, precise raise-and-lower control, and dependable integration with RadioRA 3 systems.

Their classic design makes them especially useful when expanding or upgrading an existing RadioRA 2 installation, matching other Maestro-style controls, or supporting specialized lighting loads. The Maestro RF PRO LED+ dimmer (RRD-PRO) also does not require a neutral wire, which makes it Lutron's answer for older homes where the Sunnata dimmer can't be used. ynVISION installs and programs Maestro RF controls throughout Towaco, Montville, Short Hills, and surrounding New Jersey areas.

Key Features of Maestro RF Dimmers

Familiar, Easy-to-Use Lighting Control

Single-tap the main button to fade the lighting on or off, double-tap for full brightness, or press and hold when on to engage the delayed long fade to off. The side rocker raises or lowers the level. Status LEDs show the selected light level and glow softly as a night light when the load is off. A Front Accessible Service Switch (FASS) allows safe lamp replacement.

Because the dimmer communicates with the RadioRA 3 processor, the lighting also responds to keypads, schedules, app commands, occupancy sensors, and whole-home scenes.

Control Different Types of Lighting

The Maestro RF family includes multiple dimmers built for different electrical loads and project conditions:

  • RRD-PRO, Phase-selectable PRO LED+ dimmer. 250 W LED/CFL, 500 W incandescent/halogen/ELV, or 400 VA MLV. Neutral optional.

  • RRD-6CL, Legacy LED/CFL dimmer that Lutron currently lists as RadioRA 3-compatible. Confirm lamp compatibility and product availability before specifying it for a new project.

  • RRD-6ND, 600 W incandescent/halogen, 450 W/600 VA MLV, or 150 W LED. Neutral required.

  • RRD-10ND, 1000 W incandescent/halogen, 800 W/1000 VA MLV, or 150 W LED. Neutral required.

  • RRD-10D, 1000 W incandescent/halogen or 800 W/1000 VA MLV. No neutral required.

  • RRD-F6AN-DV, 6 A, 120-277 V three-wire dimmer for Lutron Hi-lume, Hi-lume 3D, Hi-lume Compact SE, Eco-10, and EcoSystem ballasts and drivers only.

  • RRD-8ANS / RRD-8S-DV, 8 A electronic switches for lighting and motor loads.

  • RRD-2ANF, 2 A fan speed control for one paddle-type ceiling fan, four speeds plus off.

A qualified installer must match the specific Maestro model to the fixture, driver, wattage, wiring, gang position, and dimming protocol. Using the wrong dimmer can cause flicker, limited dimming range, audible noise, or unreliable operation, and no Maestro dimmer should be installed to control receptacles or motor-operated appliances.

Modern Sofa Setting

RadioRA 3 Lighting Automation

Multi-Location Control

Compatible Maestro remote dimmers (RD-RD) and remote switches (RD-RS) allow the same lighting circuit to be operated from additional wall locations.

Keypad Scenes

A Maestro-controlled circuit can be included in scenes such as Welcome, Dinner, Entertain, Movie, and Away.

Automatic Operation

Combine Maestro dimmers with schedules, Radio Powr Savr sensors, the Lutron app, and other RadioRA 3 system devices.

  • Multiple RadioRA-Compatible Models: Dedicated dimmers, switches, fan-speed controls, and wired remote controls.

  • Power-Failure Memory: Controls return to their previous state after electrical power is restored.

  • Multi-Location Capacity: Up to nine remote dimmers or remote switches per control. Total blue-terminal wire length up to 250 ft, except the RRD-PRO at 150 ft.

  • Position Flexibility: Neutral-wire Maestro dimmers, switches, and fan controls must sit on the load side of a multi-location circuit, the RRD-PRO is the exception and can go in any position.

  • RTISS Technology: Real-time line-voltage compensation on the RRD-PRO, which requires a neutral connection to work.

  • RF Communication: Maestro system controls use Clear Connect Type A, operating between 431.0 MHz and 437.0 MHz. Each control must be within 30 ft of the RadioRA 3 processor or a repeater; repeaters must be within 60 ft of the processor or another repeater.

  • Existing-System Compatibility: RadioRA 3 supports most existing RadioRA 2 and RA2 Select Type A devices, making Maestro valuable for upgrades and expansions. A RadioRA 3 processor accepts up to 95 Type A devices.

Maestro Dimmer Selection and Programming

Not every Maestro dimmer works with every LED fixture. ynVISION evaluates the load type, fixture driver, neutral availability, circuit wattage, gang position and derating, multi-location arrangement, and RadioRA 3 system design before selecting the correct model.

We provide professional installation coordination, system programming, scene design, app setup, and client training throughout Morris County, Essex County, and surrounding Northern New Jersey areas.
