Lutron LMJ-CCO1-24-B Contact Closure Integration
Connect a RadioRA 3 lighting system to compatible third-party equipment using a professionally engineered low-voltage dry-contact interface.
The LMJ-CCO1-24-B receives wireless commands from RadioRA 3 and provides one contact closure output. It sends a control signal to approved third-party equipment, it does not directly power a motor, pump, screen, HVAC unit, or other connected device. Lutron lists it as compatible with RadioRA 2, RadioRA 3, and HomeWorks QS.
What Is a Contact Closure Output?
A contact closure acts like a small electrically controlled switch. The LMJ-CCO1-24-B provides common, normally open, and normally closed dry-contact terminals, and the output may be wired using either the NO or the NC terminal.
The output can be programmed as either momentary or maintained, and it is latching, with a minimum close time of 500 ms. A momentary output briefly changes state and then returns; a maintained output remains in its selected state until another command is received.

Approved Third-Party Integration Applications

Lutron positions this module for integration into building management, HVAC, VAV, and other third-party systems. Subject to the equipment manufacturer's instructions, safety requirements, and professional engineering, it may be suitable for sending commands to:

The module should control the third-party interface, not directly switch the equipment's motor or high-voltage load. It must not be used for motorized gates, garage doors, industrial doors, fireplaces, space heaters, microwave ovens, or heating pads.
Inductive loads. Lutron states the CCO is not rated to control unclamped inductive loads, including relays, solenoids, and motors. Controlling those requires a flyback diode on DC circuits; see Lutron Application Note #434.

Keypad Commands
A programmed keypad button can send an approved momentary or maintained contact command.
Lighting and Equipment Scenes
Coordinate compatible third-party equipment with lighting, shades, and other RadioRA 3 devices.
Automated Events
Program approved equipment interfaces to respond to schedules, system modes, or homeowner commands when doing so is safe and permitted by the equipment manufacturer.

Important Safety and Installation Requirements

24 V Power Required: 24 V~ or 24 V- from an IEC PELV / NEC Class 2 source. Nominal operating current 45 mA on AC, 35 mA on DC. Supply wires can be connected in any polarity.

One Dry-Contact Output: Normally open and normally closed terminals plus common.

Contact Rating: Resistive load of 1.0 A at 0-24 V DC, or 0.5 A at 0-24 V AC. Accepts input voltages of 0 to 24 V AC/DC.

Momentary or Maintained Operation: Selected during programming. Output is latching, minimum close time 500 ms.

Indoor Use Only: 32 °F-131 °F, 0%-90% non-condensing humidity. UL 2043 plenum rated.

Mounting: Screw tabs for surface mounting (Lutron's recommendation), or a 1/2 in / 21 mm trade-size knockout into a junction box. Some U.S. applications require an additional junction box, see Application Note #423.

Wiring: CCO terminals accept 20 to 16 AWG solid or stranded wire.

RF Range: 30 ft from a RadioRA 3 processor or wireless repeater, extendable with up to four wireless repeaters on a single RF link.

Entrapment and Fire Hazard Warnings: Lutron warns these controls should only be used to operate equipment visible from every control location, and only with approved load and equipment types. Lutron specifically names motorized gates, garage doors, industrial doors, microwave ovens, heating pads, fireplaces, and space heaters as equipment that must not be operated by these controls.

Each project requires confirmation that the third-party equipment accepts a dry-contact input, that the output type and contact rating are correct, that the load is not an unclamped inductive one, that the interface is visible and safe to operate, and that all manufacturer and code requirements are followed.
