Lutron RadioRA 3 Outdoor Plug-In Switch

Bring landscape lighting, patio string lights, holiday decorations, fountains, and selected outdoor pumps into your RadioRA 3 system.

The Lutron RR-15OUT-BL Outdoor Plug-In Switch is built for severe weather and can be operated locally at the switch, from a Pico remote or keypad, through the Lutron app, or as part of whole-home lighting scenes.

Key Features of the RadioRA 3 Outdoor Switch

Smart Outdoor Control in Every Season

A solid polymer core protects the internal electronics, and a polycarbonate body provides long-term UV and temperature protection.

Its IP66 rating and −4 °F to 122 °F operating range make it suitable for year-round outdoor use, in 0%-100% non-condensing humidity. A multi-color indicator LED reports status and errors, and the switch includes built-in ground-fault detection that trips and reports if it senses a fault.

Important: the RR-15OUT-BL must be plugged into a GFCI-protected circuit. The end of the cord must sit at least 3 in above the ground when plugged in, and any extension cord used with it must be rated for at least 15 A.

Control More Than Patio Lights

Lutron describes the outdoor switch as providing on/off system control of plugged-in outdoor lighting, patio string lights, landscape lights, and holiday lights, as well as small pumps and motors such as those for ponds, fountains, or decorative inflatables. Typical properly rated loads include:

  • Patio and pergola string lights

  • Landscape-lighting transformers

  • Holiday lights and outdoor decorations

  • Illuminated planters and decorative lighting

  • Fountain and pond pumps

Every connected load must remain within Lutron's ratings and the equipment manufacturer's operating requirements.

Sunset and Sunrise Schedules

Turn landscape or patio lighting on at sunset and off at a predetermined time. With a processor in the system, the schedule tracks the seasons without manual timeclock adjustment.

Whole-Home Scenes

Include exterior lighting in Welcome, Entertain, Away, Vacation, and Good Night commands.

Remote App Control

Check or change the connected load from the Lutron app when the switch is connected to a RadioRA 3 processor.

  • Operating Range: −4 °F to 122 °F (−20 °C to 50 °C), 0%-100% humidity, non-condensing.

  • RF Communication: Clear Connect Type A. The device must be within 30 ft of a repeater or wireless processor.

  • Status Reporting: Multi-color indicator LED with status and error reporting, including a repeating double red blink when built-in ground-fault detection trips.
